The Boy Scouts of America annually celebrates its founding on February 8, 1910, based on the program started by founder Lord Baden Powell. Sometime in the mid 1940's Scout Sunday was added to the Scout program. The purpose of Scout Sunday is to assist people in houses of worship to become aware of Scouting, and to allow Scouts to perform their "Duty to God" pledged each week.
On Sunday, February 6, 2011 members of Cub Scout Pack 345 and Boy Scout Troop 345
participated and assisted with the morning services at their
charter church, Northwood Presbyterian Church.
As well as completing duties such as ushering and offering collection several scout members were recognized for their accomplishment in earning their perspective religious awards. Both the God and Me and the God and Family awards require several months of extensive studies both in class and at home which is overseen by a trained program counselor.

In addition to the traditional Scout Sunday activities Troop 345 members were proud to present church members with a hand crafted bench made by members Mitchell and David. The bench will be placed outside the church to be used by those members waiting for rides home after church activities.
